The UCU Difference

University Credit Union is a unique financial solution for students, employees and alumni of Maine's University System. What makes UCU unique you might ask? There are a lot of little things that make UCU different, but the most important difference is that we are a local, not-for-profit financial institution who's focus is on serving our members. 

Each and every member owns a piece of UCU and has democratic control over the future of the organization. This also makes us a part of the communities that we serve, not merely a third party profit organization designed for the benefit of investors. Our investors are our members! We take pride in being a local institution that can give back to the communities that we all belong to.

Being a  member of a financial cooperative gives you an advantage that you won't find at other financial institutions. A cooperative institution is designed to benefit it's members and owners and this has been the driving philosophy of UCU since we opened our doors in 1967.
